Is there anything better than a Random Act of Kindness? That time someone handed in your lost wallet? When you were short of change at the parking meter and a stranger gave you the £1 coin you were missing? Or what about when you could see someone looking lost and gave them directions?
Click became a recognisable name around the three Essex campuses very quickly and hence more and more people know about this amazing opportunity. The platform is open to all current students and staff members who are also eligible to matchfunding. But did you know alumni can also benefit from Click?
Last Tuesday 28 November saw Essex mark #GivingTuesday, the worldwide celebration of philanthropy. This was our third year participating and our best yet, with record numbers of engagement from staff, students, alumni and friends of the University, and over £2,000 raised to support students using Click, our in-house crowdfunding platform.
Sana Kikhia – originally from Syria and a former Master’s student from the Essex Business School has always been interested in volunteering and social justice. As a member of the Entrepreneurship Society she saw a potential of starting a small project that could have a great impact.
Click was established in November 2015 as a way of supporting students and other university members. Since then Click has helped more than 200 brilliant ideas to become a reality and has raised more than £210,000. These numbers prove that with just a little support our Essex students can make all their dreams come true.
